Mineral Wells comes on strong at junior high meet

The Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams seventh grade and eight grade track and field teams ended the 2005 season at the Quad-County Class 4A Zone meet.The Lady Rams eighth grade squad took third place while the Lady Rams seventh grade team finished the district meet in fifth place.The Mineral Wells eighth grade girls 1,600-meter relay team of Brittany Sneed, Bailee Marsden, Elianna Vasquez and Gabby Jackson had a time of 4:18 and finished more than seven seconds ahead of the second place team from Granbury H.F. Stevens.Jackson had an amazing leap of 16-10.5 and finished in first place in the long jump while Sneed took fourth place in the event with a jump of 15-2.5.Jackson won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.02 seconds and finished in second place in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.The Rams eighth grade team claimed fourth place while the Rams seventh grade squad ended the meet in third place.Joey Hernandez, who scored points in five events, led the Rams seventh grade team with a first place finish in the high jump while Zach Nicklas scored points in four events.The Mineral Wells seventh grade boys 800-meter relay team of Jorge Zermeno, Mark Diaz, Chris Beauchamp and Nicklas had a time of 1:46.97 and finished in first place.Dontrell Thomas led the Rams eighth grade team with a time of 54.37 seconds and a first place finish in the 400-meter dash.The Mineral Wells eighth grade boys 1,600-meter relay team of Bylli Goodacre, Zack Peacock, Tony Chung and Thomas had a time of 3:56.04 and finished in third place.

Mineral Wells junior high track teams dominate Pogo Relays  Thursday, March 24, 2005

The Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams seventh and eighth grade track and field teams each turned in strong performances at the recent Pogo Relays in Springtown.

The Lady Rams seventh grade and eighth grade teams both took second place in the team standings.

Courtney Miller finished in first place in the seventh grade 800-meter dash while the Lady Rams 400-meter relay team of Toni Evans, Nicole Clark, Cali Purefoy and Megan Hart had a time of 58.17 seconds on the way to a first place finish.

The Mineral Wells seventh grade girls 1,600-meter relay team of Brittany Rook, Heather Hopkins, Purefoy and Hart added a first place finish with a time of 5:07.34.

Gabby Jackson took first place in the eighth grade girls high jump and first place in the 400-meter dash while Jessica Eastman won the pole vault.

The Lady Rams eighth grade 400-meter relay of Clarice Nickerson, Brittany Sneed, Amber Kunes and Jackson had a time of 53.39 and finished in first place.

The Mineral Wells eighth grade girls 1,600-meter relay team of Sneed, Kunes, Elianna Vasquez and Jackson took first place with a time of 4:40.

The Rams seventh grade team finished in first place while Mineral Wells took fourth in the eighth grade boys team standings.

Zach Gaylor won the seventh grade shot put while Joey Hernandez finished in first place in the high jump.

Tyler Carney took first place in the seventh grade 110-meter hurdles while Zach Durst finished in first place in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Mineral Wells seventh grade boys 1,600-meter relay team of Kenyon Calcote, Chris Beauchamp, Montel Larkin and Zach Nicklas had a time of 4:21.37 and finished in first place.

The Rams seventh grade 800-meter relay team of Jorge Zermeno, Mark Diaz, Beauchamp and Nicklas took first place with a time of 1:49.23.

The Mineral Wells 400-meter relay team of Hernandez, Zermeno, Diaz and Nicklas claimed first place in the seventh grade division with a time of 50.70 seconds.

Zack Peacock finished in first place in the shot put and Moses Menchaca scored points in four events for the Rams eighth grade squad.

Mineral Wells teams roll up 462 points at MW junior high track meet

The Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams seventh and eighth grade track and field teams piled up a combined total of 462 points on Thursday at the Mineral Wells Junior High Relays at the Jackie Harvey Track Complex.The Lady Rams eighth grade team took second place with a team total of 164 points while the Lady Rams seventh grade team took fourth place with a team total of 87 points.The Stephenville seventh grade Honeybees rolled up 186 points and finished in first place while the Aledo Lady Bearcats took first place in the eighth grade girls division.The Rams seventh grade track team had a team total of 156 points and finished in third place while the Rams eighth grade tracksters scored 55 points and finished in fourth place.The Crowley Eagles won the seventh grade boys division with 174 points while the Aledo Bearcats took the eighth grade boys division title with a meet-high team total of 225 points.Mineral Wells' Brittany Sneed and Gabby Jackson led the Lady Rams eighth grade team with a pair of sensational performances.Sneed and Jackson led Mineral Wells to first-place finishes in the 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay and scored in a combined total of six events.Jackson won the high jump with a leap of 5-2 and took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 60.96 seconds.Sneed won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.48 seconds and finished in third place in the pole vault with a vault of 14-7.75.

Lady Rams dominate Lady Bears in eighth grade play

The Mineral Wells Lady Rams eighth grade A and B basketball teams each took wins over the
White Settlement Brewer Lady Bears in recent games.
Between them, the Lady Rams A and B teams outscored the Lady Bears A and B teams 115-21.
The following is a game-by-game look at the results:
Eighth Grade Girls

The Mineral Wells eighth grade a team climbed to 10-1 on the season with a 47-point win over the
Lady Bears. The Lady Rams took a 23-0 first-quarter lead and put the win away with a 34-11 run
during the final three quarters. Brittany Sneed led the Lady Rams in scoring
 with a game-high 25 points while Elianna Vasquez tossed in 14 points.
Gabby Jackson was also in double figures with 10 points while Amber Kunes scored three points.
Bailee Marsden added two points, four steals and three assists while Nikki Bounds and
Jayce Smith tossed in two points each. Sierra Parker had a steal while Mariela Molina added an assist
for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Rams eighth grade B team took an early lead and sailed to a 47-point win over the Lady
Bears.Taylor Riggs led the Lady Rams with a game-high 16 points,
six blocked shots, four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Kelcee Ortiz added 11 points
and seven assists while Clarice Nickerson had 10 points and three rebounds.
Jessica Eastman grabbed four steals and Jamie Clark added three steals
and two assists while Charlotte Boyd had three steals and two rebounds.
Kathleen Daughtery added three rebounds and three assists while Chelsea Simonton had three
rebounds.
